The heart behind Mama and Z
Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)
Founder, Mama and Z Lactation Services
I'm a Certified Lactation Counselor, the founder of Mama and Z Lactation Services, and a mom of two daughters. I moved to the United States from South Africa in 2018 with my husband and our dog, and before becoming a mother I worked in corporate roles and completed university studies that included psychology. But everything shifted after the birth of my first daughter.
Like so many mothers, I found breastfeeding far more challenging than I had expected. The early days brought uncertainty, frustration, and the quiet pressure of wanting to do what was best for my baby. As I worked through those challenges, something unexpected happened — I began to find my footing, and with it, a deep appreciation for the connection and confidence that breastfeeding can bring.
That experience stayed with me. While nursing my second daughter, I made the decision to turn what I had learned into something purposeful. I trained and qualified as a Certified Lactation Counselor because I wanted to be the support I wish I had found in those early, overwhelming days — someone calm, practical, and entirely without judgment.
My approach is centered on meeting mothers exactly where they are. Every baby is different. Every feeding journey is different. There is no single "right" way — only what works best for you and your family. Whether you are struggling with latch, worried about supply, preparing before your baby arrives, or simply need someone in your corner, I am here to help you feel more confident and supported.
